Join our Board of Directors
The Secretary of the Board is a key leadership role responsible for maintaining the integrity of the organization's governance and official records. The secretary acts as a custodian of all official documents, ensures legal compliance, and facilitates effective communication among board members and the organization's leadership. This is a volunteer position with no financial compensation.
Responsibilities include:
Work with the board chair to create and distribute meeting agendas and other materials in advance.
Ensure all meetings are properly scheduled and that board members receive timely notice according to the organization's bylaws.
Record accurate, detailed, and clear minutes of all board and committee meetings, capturing key discussions, decisions, and action items.
Contribute to discussions and decisions during board meetings as an active member of the board.
Act as a central point of communication for the board, circulating information and correspondence as needed.
Serve as the official custodian of the organization's records, including meeting minutes, bylaws, articles of incorporation, and other legal documents.
Maintain an up-to-date directory of board members, including contact information and term dates.
Support the board chair and other officers in their duties as needed.
Ensure that the board operates in accordance with the organization's bylaws and established policies.
