How the GAP Class at Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church Gives Back
Community support comes in many forms, from corporate partnerships to dedicated community groups and local ministry classes. At Kerrington’s Heart, our Hearts in Business series highlights the generous groups and organizations that step up to bring support, hope, and healing to Kentucky children and families affected by congenital heart disease (CHD).
In this feature, we sit down with Angie Griffin, representing the GAP (God Always Present) Class at Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church in Midway, KY, to discuss their annual efforts to bring joy to pediatric heart patients.
What is your personal connection to CHD and Kerrington's Heart?
Angie: I am a family member of Kerrington Johnson. Being personally connected to Kerrington's story makes this mission deeply meaningful to me and our whole group.
Tell us about your group! What do you do?
Angie: We are the GAP (God Always Present) Ladies Sunday School Class at Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church, located in Midway, Kentucky. We are a close-knit group of women dedicated to fellowship, faith, and serving our local community.
How does your group give back, and what motivates you to support Kentucky families?
Angie: Every year, our class provides toys for Kerrington's Closet as part of a "Christmas in July" drive. We love coming together to support various outreach organizations, and Kerrington's Heart is always right at the top of our list. Knowing that these toys bring comfort to local kids and relief to families going through tough hospital stays is what keeps us motivated to give back year after year.
